Over time, the use of genealogy to solve cold cases will be a major theme of #ColdCaseWeb. Genealogy is my main hobby (to research my own family history), and I have utilized genalogical approaches to resarch and analyze cold cases. From Ramapo College of New Jersey, “Investigative Genetic Genealogy Helps Identify John Doe in 43-year Cold Case” (press release) provides a good example of the use of genealogy for cold cases, particularly in this case the use of genetic genealogy.
If you have not watched it already, please watch (from 2022) Unfound On The Ground #16 (“Genealogical Research for Missing Persons Cases”). In this episode, various genealogical resources are discussed. You can find Internet links within the chat messages that accompany this episode on YouTube. Unfound On The Ground is a spin-off series (hosted by me) that is under the umbrella of the Unfound podcast. Unfound is owned and managed by Ed Dentzel.
Thank you.
